Bachelor of Science in Medical Imaging Technology (BScMIT)

About The Program:

 The BScMIT program focuses on the innumerable technical procedures for diagnosing various disease processes. This course is designed to meet the new requirements of the health sector, wherein the students are educated & trained in the technical aspects of the procedures, with a special emphasis on the basic anatomy & pathophysiology of the disease process.

Program Objectives:

  • To make the students learn the basic anatomy of the body so that he/she can interpret the parts on the radiograph
  • To teach the basic physiology of the body & how pathology will alter it leading to a disease process
  • To train the students in conventional radiography as well as in modern imaging techniques
  • To educate students about a few alternative procedures which are not routinely performed

 

      Eligibility:

      (a)10+2 or equivalent in Science. OR
      (b)2 year vocational course in Radiography/ Radio Diagnosis after 10th standard from a recognized University/ Institution/Board.

      Duration: Minimum: 4 years (8 semesters). Including 1 year (2 semesters) internship
                      Maximum : 8 years. 

       Lateral entry to second semester of BScMIT (First Level)

      Eligibility:
      (a) One year Diploma / Certificate in Radio Diagnosis Technology from a recognized institution after 10+2. This category of students are required to do full internship of one year (Vll & Vlll semesters).

      Duration: Minimum 3 ½ years
                      Maximum 7 years.

      Additional fee : In addition to normal program fee, an additional lateral entry fee of Rs. 4,000/- (including examination fees) is payable by the students opting for this scheme.

      Note: In this lateral entry scheme, a student has to appear and pass the first semester examination. Books of the first semester will be supplied by the University and assessment will be completed at the Learning Center.

      Lateral entry to second semester of BScMIT (Second Level) 

      Eligibility:
      (a) Two year Diploma / Certificate in Radio Diagnosis Technology from a recognized institution after 10+2. This category of students are required to do only 6 months internship instead of one year internship.

      Duration: Minimum 3 years
                    Maximum 6 years.

      Additional fee : In addition to normal program fee, an additional lateral entry fee of Rs. 4,000/- (including examination fees) is payable by the students opting for this scheme.

      Note: In this lateral entry scheme, a student has to appear and pass the first semester examination. Books of the first semester will be supplied by the University and assessment will be completed at the Learning Center.

      Lateral entry to fifth semester of BScMIT (Third level) 

      Eligibility : Successful completion of SMU's DMIT

      Duration: Minimum 2 years
                      Maximum 4 years.

      The students are exempted upto 4th semester examination and no lateral entry fee is required to be paid.

      Semester Fee:
      Rs.9,500/- per semester inclusive of examination fees or as revised from time to time.
